Single-Point
Probe Conductivity Sensor for Food Applications
The
M3850 is a small, low-cost sensor designed
for food applications in metal-walled tanks
or vessels. Installation is simple, and they
can be wired in phase so that multiple level
points can be detected. All materials are food-grade,
and the contours of the insulator shell meet
NSF requirements for cleaning.
While
a conductivity switch and a float-type switch
perform the same functions, the advantage of
no moving parts is that the conductivity switch
can be used in several environments that would
cause a float to stick or to not operate at
all. The probe is mounted with an insulator
shell for sensing in such liquids. With no
moving parts, switch operation of the M3850
is not interrupted.
Only
an extremely small amount of current is necessary
for the unit to perform. As with any device,
a properly installed and grounded system poses
no electrical hazard.
Madison
supplies a basic controller with the M3850
that will satisfy a broad range of applications.
Because conductivity varies widely among liquids,
the controller is adjustable for sensitivity
in different liquids. Consult factory for details
on a specific liquid.
