Subject: Compliance of Madison Company's products with RoHS and WEEE directives
Madison Company wants to assure our customers that all of our products comply with the RoHS and WEEE directives recently released by the European Union (E.U.).
Beginning July 1, 2006, the Restriction of Hazardous Substances, or RoHS, directive (202/95/EC) will restrict the level of use of four metals, Hg-Mercury, Pb-Lead, Cr(VI) - Hexavalent Chromium and Cd - Cadmium, in electronic products sold in Europe. Two flame-retardants, PBB - Polybrominated biphenyls and PBDE - Polybrominated diphenyl ethers, will also be restricted in their level of use in these products. The directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, or WEEE, which took effect on August 13, 2005, requires all producers, distributors and importers of electrical and electronic equipment to finance "end of life" arrangements, such as collection and recycling, for their products.
Madison Company's products are considered exempt from the requirements of the RoHS directive, since they are currently listed under Category 9 (Monitoring and Control Equipment).
One of our goals is to produce products that have minimal impact on the environment; we are making every effort to ensure that the majority of our products do not exceed the hazardous substance limits outlined in the RoHS directive (2002/95/EC). You can also be sure that, should any modifications to the two directives apply to our products, we will make whatever modifications are necessary to maintain our compliance.
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have concerning a specific Madison Company product and its RoHS compliance. Please contact us by phone at (203) 488-4477 or by email at info madisonco com. |
