Calibration of Non-Contact Level Sensors

A single push button is used to set the zero and span. Calibration can be done in the vessel by varying the material level, the sensor can be calibrated on the bench by aiming it at a target or it can be set by using programming. Factory-calibrated sensors can be provided; consult factory. The zero and span points are independent of each other, fully adjustable over the sensor’s range and stored in a non-volatile memory. Calibration feedback uses LED lights in green, yellow and red. For radar and long-range ultrasonic applications, please use the programmable calibration that is demonstrated in the instruction manual.

Full Tank Calibration

20 mA or 4 mA (750 ohm max.) output
set near target (full tank)

Calibration mode LED color green.
Push button.
Hold until LED turns yellow (20 mA) or hold until LED turns red (4 mA).
Release button, observe, LED flashes to acknowledge.

Note: When calibrating radar sensor, low dielectric materials mode must be OFF. See reference page for instructions.

Empty Tank Calibration

4 mA or 20 mA
set far from target (empty tank)

Calibration mode LED color green.
Push button.
Hold until LED turns red (4 mA) or hold until LED turns yellow (20 mA).
Release button, observe, LED flashes to acknowledge.
