Recommended sensor materials for chlorine

Pool and sanitizer system customers often select lower cost solutions like polypropylene for use in chlorinated systems. It is true that polypropylene is resistant to lower concentrations of chlorine, and can be a suitable material in vented tank applications.

However, Madison recommends the use of PVDF (Kynar®) materials to overcome many issues which occur in closed chlorinated systems.

Gases at the water line and above the lower switch are aggressive and create a strong oxidizer that breaks down polypropylene over long periods of exposure. Madison Company's M9700, M9000 and other PVDF switches eliminate these issues. View Madison's selection of PVDF float switches »

We strive to help our customers to match your application environment to the optimal sensor material, helping them realize a “Cost of Quality” solution.
