Fluid considerations include viscosity, temperature and pressure, while container considerations range from size and shape to accessibility. Chemical compatibility with both the fluid and the container is also a factor for long life and reliable operation.

Madison continuous level ultrasonic sensors provide non-contact continuous level measurement of difficult liquids such as semi-solid, corrosive, and viscous medias, as well as open channel flow measurement. Ultrasonic sensors are particularly good for applications that must sense a non-metallic object in an environment where there is systematic heavy wash down liquid, dust, heavy spray, food, ink, or other environmental hazards.
